Professional Exchange
Four-week clinical clerkships abroad.
SCOPE, the Standing Committee on Professional Exchange, runs IFMSA’s flagship clinical exchange programme. Founded in 1951, it now moves over 13,000 medical students between more than 100 countries every year, making it one of the largest student-run exchange networks in the world.
Through AUSSS, Ain Shams students complete a four-week clinical clerkship abroad, and we host incoming students here in Cairo, building cultural understanding and clinical perspective alongside future doctors from across the globe.
The aim of SCOPE is to promote cultural understanding and co-operation amongst medical students and all health professionals, through the facilitation of international student exchanges.

- Let students experience healthcare in different cultural and educational systems.

SCOPE’s community calls itself the SCOPEnguins, a nickname worn proudly across SCOPE channels worldwide. Penguins are some of nature’s great travellers: deeply social birds that journey far from home yet always move as one colony. A fitting emblem for the committee built on sending students across the world on exchange and folding them into a global family wherever they land.
