SCOME, the Standing Committee on Medical Education, is the platform where medical students contribute to and shape the development of medical education. One of IFMSA’s original 1951 committees, it treats students as full stakeholders and the first quality-check of their own curriculum.
At AUSSS, SCOME runs skills training, evidence-based-medicine sessions and peer teaching, and takes part in national medical-education projects through the Local Officer on Medical Education (LOME).
SCOME is a platform that creates a shared environment where medical students contribute, reflect, and work on the development of Medical Education through student-led activities.

SCOMEdians · the Panda
SCOME members are the SCOMEdians, and the committee’s mascot is a panda named Minshi, a name said to mean “wisdom”, reflecting SCOME’s drive to safeguard academic quality in every corner of medical education. Calm, studious and quietly determined, the panda mirrors a committee that works patiently to shape how the world’s medical students are taught.
